FM meets Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, urges support

Sri Lanka’s Foreign Minister Ali Sabry has called on the Secretary-General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Hissein Brahim Taha in Saudi Arabia. 

The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation said in a Twitter message that Foreign Minister Ali Sabry and his delegation were welcomed at the OIC’s General Secretariat in Jeddah yesterday (24).

The OIC stated that during the meeting, both sides discussed prospects for enhancing the cooperation between the OIC and the Government of Sri Lanka.

Minister Ali Sabry reassured the Secretary-General about the conditions of the Muslim Community in Sri Lanka and the steps taken by his country for economic recovery

The Secretary-General underlined the importance that the OIC attaches to the well-being of Muslim Communities and minorities all over the world, including in Sri Lanka. 

The OIC added that he also expressed hope and willingness to work closely in future on issues of mutual interest. (NewsWire)
