Foreigner found dead on Habaraduwa beach

The body of a foreign national has been recovered from the coastal area opposite the bus depot in Habaraduwa yesterday (22).

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the foreigner had arrived in Sri Lanka on 06th September and had been lodged at a hotel in Mirissa.

On 09th September, he had moved to a hotel in Lunumodara in Habaraduwa. He is reported to have borrowed a scooter from the owner of the hotel and had travelled to the coastal area in Habaraduwa for a sea bath yesterday.

An individual who had observed the foreigner lying down for an unusually long time had taken a close look at the body and had thereafter informed the Police. 

The deceased has been identified as a 41-year-old Ukraine national.

The body of the deceased has been transported to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital for a postmortem examination.

The Habaraduwa Police is conducting further investigations into the incident. (NewsWire)
