Former Black Caps star Chris Cairns on life support

New Zealand cricket legend Chris Cairns is on life support in Australia after suffering a sudden medical episode and collapsing, according to multiple reports.

It’s believed Cairns, 51, suffered an aortic dissection in Canberra last week, which is a tear inside the body’s main artery.

Cairns has reportedly undergone several operations since collapsing but a number of New Zealand media outlets – including the New Zealand Herald – say he has not responded to the treatment.

He was in Canberra at the time of the collapse and has been treated there, but is due to be transferred to Sydney.Cairns played 62 Test matches and 200 one-day internationals for the Black Caps.

In 2000 he was named one of Wisden’s five cricketers of the year. (Fox sports)
