Former President Chandrika Kumaratunga has written to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa calling for the release of imprisoned former Parliamentarian Ranjan Ramanayake.
The Supreme Court sentenced Ramanayake to 04-years in prison over contempt of court charges.
In her letter, former president requested the President to grant a presidential pardon to the former MP.
Meanwhile, Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa tweeted yesterday hoping that President will release the former MP on the National Prisoners’ Day of Sri Lanka which falls on the 12th of September.
