Samagi Jana Balawegaya MP Dilip Weddarachchi’s son has been arrested along with three others for assaulting a couple in Maharagama.
According to the Daily Mirror, the Police said the suspects had assaulted the couple after an argument had escalated following an accident.
The car in which the suspects were travelling in had reportedly collided with another car on High level Road in Maharagama on Wednesday morning (13).
The suspects had thereafter threatened and assaulted the couple in the other vehicle which was involved in the accident.
MP Weddarachchi’s son and one other suspect were arrested following the incident, while the remaining two suspects were arrested following a complaint lodged by the victims.
The Police said the suspects were released on police bail, after both parties involved in the accident had agreed to an amicable settlement. (NewsWire)
