Sri Lankan cricketers Dushmantha Chameera, Matheesha Pathirana, Dilshan Madushanka, and Wanindu Hasaranga might miss the Indian Premier League (IPL) this year as they have not fully recovered from injuries.
With the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 beginning just days after the conclusion of the IPL this season, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has reportedly decided to avoid releasing players who are not fully fit and recovered from their injuries.
Wanindu Hasaranga, who will have to remain with the Test squad in Bangladesh, played the Bangladesh series with a heel injury.
So far, only Maheesh Theekshana and Nuwan Thushara from Sri Lanka have joined their respective IPL teams.
The IPL will begin this Friday evening with Chennai Super Kings clashing with Royal Challengers Bangaluru. (NewsWire)
