The Avurudu festival in Sri Lanka is considered the top period that people use the expressways to travel home to visit their families or leave on leisure trips.
However, expressways in Sri Lanka only had cash and ETC as payment methods for the longest time. But since December 2021, the mobile wallet & payment system – ‘FriMi’ by Nations Trust Bank launched LANKAQR payments at expressway tollgates as an initiative to digitalize expressway payments.
FriMi has also introduced a cashback offer for the public travelling through the expressway during this Avurudu holidays.
The “Phone එකෙන් ගනුදෙනු” Avurudu campaign, provides FriMi users a 10% cashback during the Avurudu season for expressway payments.
The initiative by ‘FriMi’ of Nations Trust Bank allows users with any ‘LANKAQR’ enabled app to pay contactless at any expressway tollgate.
