Fuel Crisis : PM says lack of political consciousness is the reason

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa says that there was no real fuel crisis in the country but an artificial demand was created because of some improper communication.

He said that fuel tankers were docked at the Port and only unloading and distribution was left. He added that in the past there were times where fuel was available only for 24 hours.

The Prime minister made these comments while addressing the gathering at the opening ceremony of the Public Library building in Narammala.

“When you inform the public that fuel is available for only 3 or 4 days, people become panicked. Only because of these unnecessary communications people got scared and queues started forming” he said.

He further said that these unnecessary statements have been made due the lack of political consciousness. He went on to say that the situation has changed now and the President has taken necessary steps to develop the country. (NewsWire)
