The Ministry of Power and Energy says it has observed that more than 2100 businesses have set up their own Fuel Storage Tanks as consumer points of which many are without approval.
Minister of Energy Kanchana Wijesekera said the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) will not distribute to businesses that have no approvals and do not comply with the guidelines.
He further said that priority will be given to distributing to the over 1250 Fuel Stations.
Upon evaluating consumer points, the CPC will continue distribution to Essential Consumer Points. Export businesses will be required to pay in USD, he added.
Minister Wijesekera further said that businesses can also make arrangements to fulfill their requirements from Bunker Suppliers.
The Minister of Power and Energy added that petrol will not be delivered to businesses. (NewsWire)
