Fuel imports have to be restricted in the next 12 months, Minister of Energy Kanchana Wijesekera said today.
In a Twitter message, the Minister said this was due to the foreign exchange crisis in Sri Lanka.
He further explained that thereby, the National Fuel Pass system with QR code was introduced since the daily fuel demand cannot be fulfilled.
The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) has never distributed fuel daily to every single fuel station.
It is practically impossible even when stocks are unlimited, the Minister added. (NewsWire)
