A gazette notification has been issued imposing a maximum retail price of Rs 3,000 for a Pulse Oximeter.
The Government has also imposed 10 regulations related to selling Pulse Oximeters.
According to National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA) only five pulse oximeter suppliers are registered with the NMRA as of now. The suppliers are Medex Holding, Sunway Holdings, Digital Cells, Mega Meditech, and George Steuart Health. Details of registered suppliers, brands and models are available on the NMRA website.
According to the NMRA, the proliferation of low quality, substandard and falsified medical devices in the market have been observed during pandemic, putting the lives of people at very high risk.
