GMOA accuses authorities of exempting COVID guidelines for VIP arrivals

The Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) has charged certain Ministry officials of violating the COVID-19 guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health.

In a letter to the Secretary to the Ministry of Health, the GMOA said it has been notified of instances where Health Ministry guidelines have been violated by higher officials of certain Ministries by granting permission for travelers to enter Sri Lanka.

The GMOA has accused certain Ministries of exempting COVID guidelines for the Leader of the BORA Community, Russian Ambassador to Sri Lanka, and patients from the Maldives and Seychelles.

The Association requested the Ministry of Health to inform relevant authorities to strictly adhere to the guidelines of the Ministry and Quarantine Ordinance.

The Ministry of Health’s timely intervention will ensure an optimal control of the COVID-19 pandemic situation within Sri Lanka, it added. (NewsWire)
