Sri Lanka today commenced administering the booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine to frontline health workers.
State Minister Professor Channa Jayasumana said the Pfizer BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine is being provided as the booster dose.
He further said the vaccine can be obtained at all General Hospitals and the Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children in Colombo.
Frontline health workers will be vaccinated under the first phase of the programme.
Thereafter, measures will be taken to inoculate those identified under the high-risk category from groups prioritized by the Government for this purpose, the State Minister said.
Professor Channa Jayasumana said the selected groups will also be administered the Pfizer vaccine as the booster dose. (Newswire)
