The academic activities of Grade one students will officially commence from April 2022, the Minister of Education Dinesh Gunawardena has announced.
Speaking to reporters in Kandy yesterday, the Minister further explained plans pertaining to opening schools and conducting examinations in 2022.
“Schools will close for the year on 23rd December 2021 and will reopen for the new academic year on 03rd January 2022. The first term will end in April as we have to cover the academic activities that were missed. The Grade 5 scholarship examination will be held in the 3rd week of January and the GCE Advanced Level Examination will be held in February. The GCE Ordinary Level Examination will be held from May to June. The Department of Examinations has allocated these time frames,” he said.
Commenting on the admission of Grade one students, the Minister said that the circulars in this regard have been issued and the regular process is being followed at present, adding that parents can utilize it to obtain the admissions.
He said a decision has been taken to commence academic activities for Grade one students in April, as the classrooms have been allocated for the academic activities of other grades to cover the missed syllabuses. (NewsWire)
