The Second Reading of the Appropriation Bill for the financial year 2022 was passed in Parliament with a majority of 93 votes today.
The Bill was introduced in Parliament by the Minister of Finance Basil Rajapaksa on the 07th of October.
The debate on the Second Reading of the budget was held for seven days from Saturday, November 13th until today, November 22nd.
The Bill was passed with 153 votes in favour and 60 votes against.
The Government has obtained a 2/3rd majority in the voting process.
Opposition MPs Rauf Hakeem and Rishad Bathiudeen had voted against the Budget 2022.
However, the members in their political parties had voted in favour of the bill.
SLMC Trincomallee District MP MS Thowfeek abstained from voting, while the other 3 MPs voted in favour of the budget.
In the ACMC, apart from MP Rishad Bathiudeen, all three remaining MPs voted in favour.
