Former Minister Dr. Harsha de Silva has met President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to resolve issues pertaining to the Board of the 1990 Suwa Seriya Ambulance Service.
Commenting on the meeting, Samagi Jana Balawegaya MP de Silva appreciated the President’s non-partisan stand on the free ambulance service.
He further congratulated Duminda Rathnayake, Asita de Silva, Sandhya Salgado, and Vijaya Malalasekera for their reappointment to the Board of the Suwa Seriya Ambulance Service.
“I am pleased Pres @GotabayaR was able to see through the clutter. I appreciate his non partisan stand on #1990SuwaSeriya. I congratulate @DumindraR, Asita de Silva, Sandya Salgado n Vijaya Malalasekera for having got reappointed to run #SriLanka’s most efficient public service,” he tweeted.
Dr. de Silva further said it needs to be told that the Board is entirely voluntary, adding that no salary, allowance, or car was provided.
“There ARE good people who really want to serve #SriLanka for no personal benefit. I wish more would step forward for the sake of our nation,” he further tweeted.
Launched with Indian Grant in 2016 on a concept of former Deputy Minister and Parliamentarian Dr. Harsha de Silva, the 1990 Suwa Seriya Ambulance Service is now available Island-wide. (NewsWire)
