Opposition MP Harsha de Silva has clapped back at former President and current Speaker of the Maldives Mohamed Nasheed.
MP Harsha de Silva had claimed that during a previous conversation with Nasheed, the latter had revealed that several foreign nations had rejected his requests for helping Sri Lanka during its economic crisis.
He said countries such as Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Japan had refused to provide assistance to Sri Lanka under the current circumstances.
Commenting on the matter, Nasheed said the statement and news reports surrounding it are inaccurate.
He further said that foreign countries were willing to assist Sri Lanka at present.
However, responding to Nasheed, MP Harsha de Silva said he stands by his earlier statement regarding their conversation a few weeks ago.
The opposition MP further said, that however, he is happy to note Nasheed’s belief that many nations are eager to help Sri Lanka.
“With all due respect for my friend Pres @MohamedNasheed I stand by what I said re conversation w him a few weeks back. However I am happy to note his belief now that many nations are eager to help #SriLanka” MP de Silva Tweeted. (NewsWire)
