The unidentified body found in a travelling bag on Dam Street in Colombo yesterday, is reported to have been brought by the suspect on a 143 bus from Hanwella to Colombo, Fort, the Police said.
Police Spokesman Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Ajith Rohana said CCTV footage has been obtained on the perpetrator abandoning the bag, and the Police have commenced investigations into the incident.
He said the driver and conductor of the bus have been interrogated, during which it was revealed that the suspect had boarded the bus in Hanwella.
DIG Ajith Rohana said the body, suspected to belong to a 20-year-old woman, has been placed at the Police Mortuary in Colombo, while the post mortem examination is set to take place today.
