Health Ministry bans black flags and banners in hospitals, explains why

A circular has been issued by the Ministry of Health prohibiting the display of black flags in hospitals and health institutions.

Dated 24th March 2023, the circular has been signed by the Health Secretary and forwarded to the Provincial Health Secretaries and Provincial Health Service Directors.

According to Daily News, the circular has been issued taking into consideration the mental health of patients and staff.

Stating that it appreciates the special role played by all the health staff to take care of patients and save lives as a vital service in the country, the Health Ministry stated that certain groups were attempting to hinder healthcare services.

The Ministry has pointed out that the displaying of banners and black flags may have a severe effect on the mental health of patients facing a life-threatening condition as well the activities of dedicated doctors and health staff. (NewsWire)
