A significant increase has been noted in the number of Covid cases in Sri Lanka at present, the Health Ministry reported.
According to the Ministry, 62 cases of Covid-19 had been detected across the country yesterday.
Chief Epidemiologist Dr. Samitha Ginige warned that there was a significant increase in Covid- 19 patients in the last two weeks.
He further said that data has proven that those vaccinated are well protected against the virus than those who are unvaccinated.
Meanwhile, the Public Health Inspectors’ Union said that testing for Covid -19 is currently not taking place in several areas as before.
The Union said, therefore, that the actual cases of Covid-19 in Sri Lanka may be significantly higher than the amount that has been quoted by the Health Ministry. (NewsWire)
