The Sri Lanka Army has stepped in to provide assistance at state hospitals in which health workers are engaged in a strike action today.
All health workers, including Health Management Assistants, attendants, and Healthcare Assistants launched a trade union action from 06.00 am demanding an allowance increase of Rs 35,000.
The token strike is being held against the government’s decision to increase the Disturbance, Availability and Transport (DAT) allowance by Rs 35,000 to doctors only.
Activities at several state hospitals have been hampered due to the strike action by the health workers.Â
Accordingly, the Sri Lanka Army said it has deployed officers at affected state hospitals to provide the necessary assistance for smooth operations. (NewsWire)
