The accidents of drowning people, especially children, have recently increased along rivers and lakes in the countryside, which citizens often go to on holidays and festivals. By 2021, about 74 water emergency calls were recorded nationwide, which resulted in the death of 86 people who drowned, including 19 children. Rescuers attributed the main cause of drowning accidents to non-standard inflatable boats and floats in the rivers, in addition to the lack of supervision of some parents on their children.

“A total of six adults and two children have been rescued since the patrol began. When people go for a walk near the river, they should supervise their young children, to avoid getting into the water when drinking alcohol, cross the road safely, and stop using inflatable toys, mattresses, and car tires that are not intended for swimming. These are things that cannot be used in running water. Water accidents are common for the reasons mentioned above. Therefore, citizens are encouraged to take proper care of their young children when they go to the riverside.”

“Teenagers, ages 10-17, leave without parental supervision and without letting adults know. They go to the river and blow each other up, but even if they can’t, they go into the water because they are ashamed of each other, so they can’t save themselves. This kind of case is common”

“I’m on vacation with my family. When swimming in the river, we follow the safety rule. According to television, radio, and radio reports, many people have drowned in floods and rivers this year due to the floods. That’s why we don’t use inflatable boats or anything like that to ensure our safety when we go for a walk.”
