Construction of the Pothuhera- Galagedara stretch of the Central Expressway, spanning 32.5km, will commence prior to the end of this year, Minister of Highways Johnston Fernando said.
The Minister said Rs. 40 billion has been allocated to acquire land and provide compensation to owners of the acquired land for the construction of the expressway.
The allocated fund is the highest amount to be set aside so far with regard to the payment of compensation, he said.
Minister Johnston Fernando further said that construction work on the Ruwanpura Expressway, spanning 74 km, will commence before 15 January, 2021. (NewsWire)
