Water supply to the Homagama Police station has been suspended after it was found to have been obtained illegally and used for nearly 10 years.
The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) had suspended the illegal water supply to the Police station yesterday.
Officials from the Ratmalana Special Raids Unit of the Water Board had inspected the Police station yesterday based on a complaint received in this regard.
The officials had found an illegally obtained water supply line during the inspection.
Out of the four water lines supplying water to the Police station, three lines had been disconnected recently.
However, the Police station had obtained water via one of the disconnected water pipeline.
The Water Board has reported that is has incurred a loss of over Rs. 1.5 million as a result of this.
The National Water Supply and Drainage Board is conducting further investigations into the matter. (NewsWire)
