Honorary Consulate of Sri Lanka Opened in historical city of Bursa

The Office of Honorary Consulate of Sri Lanka to Bursa, Turkey officially opened on 25 September 2021 with the participation of Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Turkey M. Rizvi Hassen, Deputy Chairman & Head of Foreign Affairs of ruling Justice & Development Party (AK Parti) Efkan Ala, Mayor of Bursa Alinur Aktas, Bursa based parliamentarians and government officials of the Bursa Governorate.

Speaking at the occasion Ambassador Hassen said that opening of Honorary Consulate in the historical city of Bursa will further strengthen already existing friendly and brotherly relations between Turkey and Sri Lanka. Bursa is the 4th largest city of Turkey in terms of population and second largest region of economy also regarded as the region that the Ottoman Empire set up its first kingdom and later prospered. Ambassador Hassen also officially handed over the Commission of Appointment to Honorary Consul of Bursa Ahmet Yıldız. Honorary Consul Yildiz during his remarks assured his commitment to promote Sri Lanka in the region of Bursa to attract new trade opportunities, tourism and investment to Sri Lanka.   

Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Alinur Aktaş AK Party Deputy Chairman and Deputy Governor of the Bursa metropolitan city parliamentarian Efkan Ala also addressed the gathering.
