How do some seized drugs become flour during testing?

Minister of Justice Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe has acknowledged security issues pertaining to seized narcotics after some seized drugs had been identified as panadol powder or flour during testing in the recent past.

Addressing a media briefing, the minister admitted that there were no proper laws to monitor the transportation of seized narcotics.

He further said there were also no systems to monitor if the seized drugs were the ones being handed over for testing.

“We are unable to say for sure if the Police had seized drugs or flour and if it had been tampered with in between transfers,” the minister revealed.

Minister Rajapakshe said, however, that stringent security measures have been put in place for the storage of the seized drugs, preventing any fraudulent activities.

The Justice Minister further said that discussions must be held with the Police on the security measures required during the transportation of the seized narcotics. (NewsWire)
