Sri Lanka concluded their T20 world cup campaign with a win against West Indies.
Despite not getting into the semi finals, the young Sri Lanka team was praised by many top commentators for their spirited preformance throughout the tournament.
“They are a team that is developing heavily in the right direction” said Ian Bishop.
“It might not be their year this year, but look out for them in Australia.” Simon Doull believes Sri Lanka are developing quite well as a unit, ahead of the next edition of the T20 World Cup.
“There are a few cricket lovers who will be disappointed to see Sri Lanka go. The talent in players like Asalanka and Nissanka has been wonderful to see. Add Rajapakse, Hasaranga, Chameera, Karunaratne, Theekshana and there is a great base to build on.” Indian commentator Harsha Bhogle said.
“One of the biggest positives from this T20 World Cup is the promise that we’re entering an era of very classy batting from a rather talented Sri Lankan team” Indian Cricket writer Bharat Sundaresan said.
“Although it is hard to shake the feeling that we are watching the end of the West Indies era it also feels as if we are watching something of the genesis of a new era with Sri Lanka. Hasaranga, Asalanka, Theekshana, Rajapaksa, Kumara & Chameera are all vibrant talents” Cricket Analyst Freddie Wilde said.
“For IPL 2022 these Sri Lankans will add value to which ever franchise they get picked up in the next mega auction. Charith Asalanka, Wanindu Hasaranga, Chamika Karunaratne” Cricket stat man Mohandas Menod added. (NewsWire)
