A Facebook profile hacking system via FB Messenger has been reported in Sri Lanka.
Lanka Sugar Company Chairman Janaka Nimalachandra revealed the hacking system after his facebook account had been compromised.
The hacking system is reportedly activated via a message sent to the friendlist of a compromised facebook account through FB Messenger.
The message claims that the recipient’s facebook account has been compromised and his/ her photograph has been misused, urging the recipient to click on a weblink.
The recipient’s Facebook account is thereafter hacked as he /she clicks on the said weblink.
“Now I have no access to my account but the account is active and whoever is using is sending the same msg to everyone on my friends list. Do not open that msg if you get a similar msg,” Janaka Nimalachandra warned.
He told NewsWire, despite being cautious of scams, he had opened the link as it had been sent to him by a Facebook friend.
“Soon after this, I lost access to my acccount. The hacker has also removed my log in email from my account,” Nimalachandra added.
He further requested the public to be vigilant of the hacking pertaining to Facebook that is currently spreading in Sri Lanka. (NewsWire)
