A pre-paid card system for the newly introduced ‘Tap & Go’ Tourist Fuel Pass has been launched by the Ministries of Tourism and Energy.
The pre-paid card system will enable tourists to use US Dollars to purchase fuel at over 300 fuel stations in Sri Lanka.
The pre-paid card system has been launched by the Tourism Ministry in collaboration with the Energy Ministry, Dialog Axiata, Millenium IT ESP, Central Bank of Sri Lanka, Banking Partner – Sampath Bank, Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC), and Lanka Indian Oil Company (LIOC).
Following are key details on the pre-paid card system for the Tourist Fuel Pass:
- The new pre-paid fuel card for tourists allows a top-up of a maximum of US$ 300.
- Tourists with accepted foreign currency, paper money issued by foreign central banks which are widely accepted in Sri Lanka, can top up the card with a minimum of US$ 50.
- The pre-paid cards can be purchased from 229 Sampath Bank outlets and at the airport.
- Lost or damaged cards can be replaced at Sampath Bank branches islandwide.
- The pre-paid cards will be valid for a period of two years.

- Initially, fuel will be available at 300 CPC and LIOC filling stations, while the network is expected to be expanded to 500 outlets by end of October. (NewsWire)
