The International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) has revealed the questions it had posed to former Minister Nirupama Rajapaksa and her husband Thirukumar Nadesan with regard to the revelations of the Pandora Papers.
Nirupama Rajapaksa’s name was mentioned in the Pandora Papers, which is a leak of almost 12 million documents that revealed hidden wealth, tax avoidance, and, in some cases, money laundering by some of the world’s rich and powerful.
Data pertaining to the Pandora Papers were obtained by the ICIJ in Washington DC, which has been working with more than 140 media organizations on the biggest ever global investigation.
The ICIJ had sent a letter to Nirupama and Nadesan consisting of 22 questions as part of the investigation into the allegations levelled against them in the leaked documents.
Despite the ICIJ requesting them to respond to the questions by 20th September 2020, Nirupama and Nadesan had reportedly refused to respond. (NewsWire)
