Sri Lanka Excise department says illegal alcohol consumption in Sri Lanka has increased during Coronavirus outbreak curfew.
“With this situation, we figured that illegal liquor usage has seen a huge increase, which was unexpected by us. It was noted that such usage of illegal liquor also could contribute to the spread of Covid-19 as social distancing is not upheld in such circumstances.” Excise Department spokesman Kapila Kumarasinghe said addressing a press conference.
The production, sale and detection of illicit alcoholic has been notably increased he said.
Sale and distribution of liquor during the curfew has been banned.

Excise Department says they have launched a special programme to arrest those people who run illegal liquor businesses.
Details of the some of the arrests that were made
