Injunction order issued against two artistes over several Sinhala songs

The Colombo Commercial High Court has issued an injunction order to two members of the music band ‘Jaya Sri’ preventing them from releasing, singing, or promoting online 20 songs from its two new albums ‘Mod Goviya’ and Sundariye’.

The injunction has been issued to band members Rohitha Jayalath and Rohana Jayalath based on a complaint filed by fellow band member Aruna Liyanage.

Colombo Commercial High Court Judge Priyantha Fernando announced that the injunction order will be in effect until the 31st of December.

The complainant informed the court that he along with Rohitha Jayalath and Rohana Jayalath has formed the music band ‘Jaya Sri’.

He said the two respondents had left the band and had continued to sing and promote the songs in the two albums ‘Mod Goviya’ and Sundariye’ which were produced prior to the group disbanding.

The complainant pointed out that this was a violation of the Intellectual property Law.

Taking into consideration the facts, the Colombo Commercial High Court issued an injunction order and notice to the two respondents. (NewsWire)
