The Wildlife Department says a large number of birds have been found dead in a field in the Ralmaduwa area in Eluwankulam, Wanathawilluwa in the Puttalam district.
The Department has launched an inquiry into the deaths of nearly 150 birds, including a Bush Lark, variety of birds found in rice fields, and a pigeon.
Wildlife officials suspect the birds may have died due to some form of poisoning.
The officials have collected the dead birds in order to prevent other animals from dying after consuming it. (NewsWire)
