Investigations have commenced into the destruction of the glass cover surrounding a statue of Buddha in the Hingula area in Mawanella along the Colombo- Kandy Road.
The Mawanella Police said it is suspected that the glass may have been damaged after a rock had been thrown at it.
According to Police, however, the statue of Buddha had not sustained any damages in the attack.
The Police said steps were taken to replace the destroyed glass cover today. (NewsWire)
