Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana today requested the public to be vigilant of internet scammers using New Year’s Eve to extort money.
“Nigerian scammers in Sri Lanka are likely to send various messages today to extort money using SMS, Calls and social media. We need to people to not to fall for it” DIG Ajith Rohana said.
He urged the public not to deposit money into unknown accounts. He said that recently an amount of Rs. 30 million was stolen from a Sri Lankan woman’s account by a Nigerian internet scammer through social media. (NewsWire)
