Sri Lanka Cricket Legend Sanath Jayasuriya has revealed that he sought the advise of former cricketer Sidath Wettimuny ahead of the Road Safety World Series final against India.
Jayasuriya told NewsWire that he had struggled with the bat despite performing well with the ball, since he was playing after a period of nine years.
He said he had received advised from fellow former cricketer Wettimuny in this regard.
Wettimuny had guided Sanath stating that his hand reflexes have slowed down with age, and may not be able to perform as before.
He had further advised Sanath to train his hands to move quicker while batting.
Jayasuriya said during the final against India, he had followed Wettimuny’s advise and had moved his hands quicker while batting, which he found to be easy after getting into the rhythm a few balls into the game.
He said he was more confident in his shots after gaining the rhythm, which even shocked Legends skipper T.M. Dilshan.
Jayasuriya scored a quick fire 45 runs in the Road Safety World Series Final which Sri Lanka Legends lost by 14 runs.
Sanath Jayasuriya added that India Legends skipper Sachin Tendulkar had also praised him for his performance during the finals. (NewsWire)
