“Jeena Madam” acquitted by Supreme Court

The Supreme Court today acquitted Rosemary Felicia Perera alias Jeena Madam, who was convicted by Colombo High Court for running a brothel at Liberty Plaza, Colpetty, Lankadeepa reported.

She was convicted for 3 years in prison in 2012 for employing women in prostitution.

In a split decision Supreme Court today acquitted her from charges.

According to Lankadeepa she was acquitted on the basis that charges cannot be brought against a prostitute alleging that she had employed other women in prostitution. (NewsWire)
