Jeevan Thondaman declares he will continue father’s dream

Late Minister and Leader of Ceylon Workers’ Congress Arumugan Thondaman’s funeral was held today (31st) at Norwood.

His son Jeevan Thondaman delivering a speech at the funeral ensured the gathering at his father’s funeral that he will take his father’s footsteps in serving the people in the estate sector, particularly the dreams of his father to elevate the education levels of the people he represented and to bring further development in their lives.

“We could not bid farewell to him in the grand fashion we should because of this Corona issue. As much as it is saddening for us to pay our last respects to him in this way, the safety of the country is also of importance to us. Even my dad would have liked it this way. But we will do this in a grand manner as you would have expected, once this Corona issue is over”, said Thondaman Junior.

“His dream was to elevate the respect for his people. Even on the day he passed away, we had met the Prime Minister and spoken about Rs. 1000 daily wage issue and we returned home happily”, he recollected in great grief.

He thanked the up-country Tamils for the support they had given his father and assured that all is not lost.
