Jeevan Thyagarajah appointed as Northern Governor

Former Election Commission member Jeevan Thyagarajah sworn in as the new Governor of the Northern Province before President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.

Prior to his appointment, Thiyagarajah resigned from his post as a member of the National Elections Commission.

He replaces current Governor P.S.M Charles, who was appointed as the Governor of the Northern Province in December 2019.

Jeevan Thiyagarajah was appointed as a member of the Election Commission in December last year.

Thiyagarajah had earlier served as the head of the Consortium of Humanitarian Agencies (CHA). (NewsWire)
