England captain Joe Root today went past Younis Khan as the batsman who has scored the most runs with “Sweeps”. Root has now scored 972 runs with sweeps, this includes slog- sweeps as well as reverse sweeps.
Incidentally, two Sri Lankans, Niroshan Dickwella and former captain Mahela Jayawardena are among the top 10 players who have scored most runs with sweeps since the records began in 2006 according to CricViz Analyst.
Root scored a brilliant double century against India today. He became the 1st player to score a double century playing in the 100th Test.
