Daily Mirror newspaper has responded to the Chinese Embassy reiterating the newspaper provides open forum for diverse views.
Newspaper asserts articles which the Chinese Embassy raised objections over were published in keeping with journalistic traditions.
Journalist Easwaran Rutnam who had written 2 of those articles had posted the following in his Facebook profile over the objections raised by the Chinese Embassy.
“The Chinese Embassy needs to first accept what “media freedom” is. Just because they control the media in China does not mean they can do the same here #Srilanka #lka #China #mediafreedom” He said
