Nearly 80 houses have been destroyed in the fire that erupted in the Kajimawatte flats in Thotalanga, Grandpass last night.
The Police said no injuries or casualties have been reported in the incident, while 220 persons from 80 families have been displaced.
They have been temporarily placed at the Kelani River Temple in Grandpass and the Community Centre at the Modara Uyana apartment complex.
The fire has been contained together by the Grandpass Police, Army, and the Colombo Fire brigade.
The cause for the fire is yet to be ascertained, while the Grandpass Police is conducting further investigations. (NewsWire)
