Several alternative routes have been announced by the Police to reduce traffic congestion along the Baseline Road due to the final stages of the construction work on the New Kelani bridge.
The Police said heavy congestion has also been reported in the morning and evening on the road near the entrance of the Colombo Harbour as a result.
Following are the alternative routes announced by the Police:
- Vehicles travelling on the Kandy Road are requested to avoid the Baseline Road and to use the Nawaloka Roundabout to enter the Thotalanga Junction, Waleskumara Mawatha, and Bloemendal Road to enter Colombo.
- Vehicles using the Negombo Road can enter Colombo through Kadirana Road and Aluth Mawatha.
- Vehicles travelling on the Old Avissawella Road can use Stace Road, Kosgas Junction, through Lyards Broadway Road to Waleskumara Mawatha.
Motorists have been requested to adhere to alternative routes to avoid traffic congestions. (NewsWire)
