The vesak celebration organized at the Sri Lankan Embassy in China has been attended by Xu Shi Yin’e, popularly known as the ‘Lankan Princess’ in China.
The Sri Lankan Embassy in China said Princess Xu Shi Yin’e had met Sri Lankan Ambassador to China Palitha Kohona prior to attending the event.
During the discussion, the Princess had revealed details of her ancestral links to Sri Lanka, stating that she is a 19th generation descendant of a king from the court of King Parakramabahu VI of Kotte.
The Embassy said the Princess had also shared photographs of the burial site of her royal ancestor in Sri Lanka.
In 2009, Quanzhou City of China, under the guidance of the Princess, entered into a sister city relationship with Colombo, while Sri jayawardenepura Kotte and Lichen City in Quanzhou became sister cities in 2017.
