A light training aircraft belonging to a private company made an emergency landing at the Payagala beach in the Kalutara District today.
Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) spokesman Group Captain Dushantha Wijesinghe told NewsWire that the aircraft belongs to a private company operating from the Ratmalana Airport.
He said the light training Aircraft had made an emergency landing due to a defect in the engine. An instructor pilot and a trainee student had been on board the aircraft at the time of the incident.
Stating that a rescue team from the Air Force had been dispatched to the location, Group Captain Wijesinghe said it has been confirmed that the instructor pilot and trainee student have not been injured.
He further said that a technical team of the private company owning the light training aircraft has arrived at the location and is engaged in activities to recover the aircraft. (NewsWire)
