Litro Gas : Message from Chairman

Litro Gas Lanka says it hopes to eliminate queues for domestic gas cylinders by 31st July.

Chairman of the company, Muditha Pieris said Sri Lanka’s primary gas supplier also hopes to maintain adequate stocks in the country till the end of October.

Litro Gas Lanka resumed the distribution of domestic gas cylinders on Monday (11), after a temporary suspension due to the inability to import stocks of LP Gas.

Muditha Pieris announced that the company has made arrangements to distribute 120,000 domestic gas cylinders from yesterday (12).

At present, officials have instructed the public to produce their electricity bill for the month of May when buying gas, in a bid to reduce hoarding.

He called on the public not to purchase domestic gas cylinders from the black market, even though prices of the 12.5 kg cylinders have been hiked.

He pointed out that Litro Gas Lanka has made arrangements to procure 33,000 MT of LP gas until the end of July and 100,000 MT to last till the end of October this year.

Stating that the necessary agreements have been signed with the World Bank and payments have been settled for initial shipments, he said, therefore, the public will not be required to wait in long queues as the necessary stocks have been secured.

Pieris said a shipment of 3,200 MT was due on July 16 and a ship carrying 20,000 MT was currently nearing the Maldives sea.

He added that Litro is also expecting to release gas to the Kerawalapitiya Gas Terminal from four ships, starting July 20. (NewsWire)
