Former Sri Lanka fast bowler Chaminda Vaas has weighed in on the future of young Sri Lankan bowler Matheesha Pathirana.
Taking to social media, Vaas stated that managing the workload of a fast bowler is crucial to ensure their performance, prevent injuries, and enhance their longevity.
“In my opinion, we shouldn’t rush someone with an unique action like Matheesha Pathirana to a longer format,” he further stated.
Stating that Matheesha is a rare talent, Vaas added that Sri Lanka cricket should take his services wisely.
Chaminda Vaas’ comments come after Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni revealed recently that Matheesha Pathirana should stick to white ball cricket for now.
Responding to the claim, Sri Lanka bowling legend Lasith Malinga stated that Matheesha Pathirana should also play red ball cricket, adding that it will help him improve his performance. (NewsWire)
