A 41-year-old man has been arrested for promoting LTTE ideologies since 2009 from overseas.
The Police said the suspect had fled to Qatar in 2009 and had aided and promoted the LTTE’s ideologies.
The Terrorism Investigation Division (TID) had informed the INTERPOL and obtained a Blue Notice against the suspect, following which he had been deported to Sri Lanka.
Upon his arrival, the suspect had been sent for mandatory quarantine and was arrested by the TID yesterday after completing his 14-days quarantine process.
SDIG Ajith Rohana said the suspect has been identified as a resident of Trincomalee and will be detained under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) for further investigations. (NewsWire)
