The Mercantile Hockey Association this year celebrates 70 years of hockey administration in the Mercantile sector. Having being formed in 1952 initially under the wing of the Mercantile Amateur Athletic Association, consequently in 1957 MHA established itself as a solus entity. Since then, the Association has contributed immensely to Sri Lanka hockey and kept the game alive in the Mercantile sector with the consistent holding of their tournaments, participation at the Sri Lanka Hockey Nationals and producing many national hockey caps for the country.
