Message for Sri Lankans living in UAE : 24 hour toll free hotline launched

Statement from Sri Lankan embassy in UAE regarding providing assistance to Sri Lankan nationals during COVID-19 in United Arab Emirates

The Sri Lanka Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Sri Lanka Consulate General Office in Dubai, over the past several weeks together with the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE), welfare and the religious organisations and the expatriate community in the United Arab Emirates are working closely to assist Sri Lankan nationals amid the spread of COVID-19.

The measures taken include attending to all inquiries, clearing visa matters, renewal of employment contracts, facilitating entry into hospitals and quarantine centres, distribution of dry rations and cooked meals and facilitating assistance to COVID-19 positive patients on a daily basis. Officers have been delegated duties to coordinate various requests, ensuring speedy responses to the Sri Lankan nationals.

The Embassy also provides to the expatriate community, protective masks, sanitizers and other requisites. The 24-hour toll free hotline number 800 119 119 is available in case of any emergency and the Embassy is also functioning during the weekends.

The Embassy is coordinating closely with the UAE Government authorities, hospitals and quarantine centres to facilitate easy access and provide emergency facilities.
